The European Association for Japanese Studies held its triannual conference this summer, from 27-30 August 2026 at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland. It was a fabulous event enlivened on the last day by an editorial roundtable featuring journal editors active in Japan. Representatives of Contemporary Japan, JAH-Q, Japan Review, Social Science Japan Journal, and the Japanese Journal 0f Religious Studies came together for a packed session examining all aspects of journal publishing, including the submission and review process, types of materials published, questions of translation, and special issues. Fine support was offered the current occupants of the editorial chairs by Kenneth Mori McElwain, former editor-in-chief of Social Science Japan Journal, and by Bettina Gramlich-Oka, former editor of Monumenta Nipponica. Thanks to all who participated.

Sebastian Maslow of Social Science Japan Journal offers his take, with, from left to right, Matthew McMullen, Ellen van Goethem, Isaac Gagne, and Ted Boyle.
