AAS-in-Asia 2025 was held in Kathmandu on 1–4 June in Kathmandu. Japan Review participated in an editorial roundtable on “Reframing Journal Publishing in ‘Asia,’” with the editors of the Japanese Journal of Religious Studies, Social Science Japan Journal, Asia-Pacific Journal: Japan Focus, Journal of Asian Humanities at Kyushu University (JAH-Q), and Critical Asian Studies. The five journal editors based in Japan discussed the globalization of research by scholars in both Japan and Asia more broadly, building on the discussion conducted at the previous year’s AAS-in-Asia, in Yogyakarta (see Publishing for Global Japanese Studies: Trends and future prospects on this). The session also offered insights into the publishing process for Early Career Researchers, and a forum to ask questions of the editors of particular journals. In general, the conference afforded a wonderful forum to network and exchange ideas.
